Manny Pacquiao admits he would consider fighting Amir Khan in the future but says his main focus is to secure a victory in his comeback fight against Jessie Vargas on Saturday.

The Filipino fighter has not been in the ring since announcing his retirement from the sport after beating Timothy Bradley on points in April, but he has since reversed his decision to hang up his gloves, and he will now face Vargas in Las Vegas this weekend.

The WBO welterweight title will be on the line at the Thomas & Mack Center and Pacquiao insists he will not be taking his American opponent lightly during the fight.

The 27-year-old told Sky Sports: “This is a very important fight and it’s a difficult fight – he’s a champion so you can’t underestimate him or take him lightly but I’ll make sure I’m 100 per cent conditioned, mentally and spiritually.”

The former eight-division world champion plans to keep fighting beyond Saturday’s showdown, and he indicated that he would be open to a bout with Khan in the future, describing the British fighter as a ‘friend’.

“I’m willing to fight anybody,” Pacquiao added. “Amir Khan is my friend and it’s good to fight somebody that you know. That’s better.”

Pacquiao has won 58 of his previous 66 professional bouts, with 38 of those victories coming by knockout, and he is available at 1.11 to secure another triumph on Saturday night, while Vargas is priced at 6.50 and the draw is on offer at 34.00.
