Judd Trump secured the Players Championship title with a comeback victory over Marco Fu and he was satisfied with the manner of his win.

Trump grabbed a second ranking title of the season after losing in three finals, namely the Gibraltar Open, the Welsh Open and the English Open.

Fu held a 5-2 lead early on but Trump fought back to claim a 10-8 victory. The 27-year-old admits he wasn’t at his best but Trump was delighted to end his losing run in finals.

“I’m delighted, there’s a lot of relief – I’ve played in a lot of finals this season and lost the last three I think,” he told ITV 4.

“Neither of us were at our best this evening; it was a bit scrappy which probably made it more exciting for the crowd to see us twitching.

“I do normally go behind in finals – maybe a bit of a slow starter – so I knew I could rattle off a few frames. I’m delighted and excited to have won.”

Trump is 5.50 to win the World Snooker Championship later this year as he bids for a maiden crown at the Crucible Theatre.

The world number four fell at the second round last year and he will be eager to impress in Sheffield after early exits in both the UK Championship and The Masters this season.

Ding Junhui is 13.00 to land the World Snooker Championship and Fu can be backed at 17.00.
