Andy Murray ahead of Wimbledon

Andy Murray heads into Wimbledon in confident mood after his impressive performances over recent months.

The British number one, who will be the third seed at SW19, has been in fine form and since February only one opponent has managed to beat the Scot – world number one Novak Djokovic.

Murray endured a difficult 2014 after shoulder surgery the previous year but he is now back to his best and has previously suggested he feels he is playing at a higher level now than when he claimed the Wimbledon crown two years ago.

The 28-year-old, who is 3.50 to win Wimbledon, won at Queen’s Club and is in a positive frame of mind ahead of the third Grand Slam event of the year.

“I hope all the recent tournaments and practice will have a bearing – that’s the point in playing all the tournaments outside the majors,” Murray told Sky Sports at the launch of his new Under Armour Wimbledon kit.

“It helps to build up confidence; to try to win matches against top players, learn about the things you are doing well and then when I’m in the practice week ahead of Wimbledon I’m focused on what I need to do.”

Murray reached the Australian Open final earlier this year and also the semi-finals of the French Open but lost to Djokovic on both occasions.

The world number three does have the edge on grass however, as he leads their head-to-head record 2-0 on the surface, including his straight-sets Wimbledon final win in 2013.

Djokovic is 2.25 to win Wimbledon this year.
